Donate to La Respuesta, an Independent Voice for the Boricua Diaspora

Read our reasons below why you should support the premier voice for the Puerto Rican Diaspora. If you rather provide us a gracious donation without explanation, click here to access our paypal account. Thank you.

La Respuesta magazine is dedicated to giving recognition and voice to the distinctiveness of the growing Boricua Diaspora. In just one year, our self-funded, all-volunteer run, grassroots efforts have impacted a broad section of our community, and provided a unique, relevant, and engaging forum for critical thinking and dialogue on issues that concern us. We are proud of how far we’ve come, and what we’ve been able to accomplish.

Now marking our one-year anniversary, we’ve had the opportunity to reflect on the effectiveness of our efforts in fulfilling the mission we set for the publication. Due to a lack of external financial sponsorship, limitations to our capabilities were present from the start. Having had time to better evaluate these limitations and identify the resources needed to sustain and develop the quality multi-media resource we envision, we are now embarking on a fundraising campaign in order to grow as a publication, and provide an even greater experience to our readers.

By donating, you can directly support our efforts to obtain the resources that would enhance our work and allow us to further engage our readers. It has not been easy running a magazine with expenses without a budget, so we are excited at the possibility of not only securing assistance, but also continuing to develop our publication with your direct support.

Here are 10 reasons you should consider donating:

  1. We are the only independent magazine by, about, and for the Boricua Diaspora.

  2. We aim to build unity among all Boricua people.

  3. We celebrate, while also critically engaging, our cultural identity and histories.

  4. We highlight events taking place in our communities.

  5. We engage in conversations with important Puerto Rican artists and leaders.

  6. We intentionally seek contributions from people in our community with historically marginalized identities, including youth, folks living with (dis)ability, women, queer and trans folks, & Afro/ Black Boricuas.

  7. We practice solidarity and are dedicated to the collective transformation and self-determination of all people.

  8. We directly interact with our readers at public events.

  9. We collaborate with other media organizations in the spirit of mutual support.

  10. We promote social justice and use our independent voice to support social movements.

If you like what we at La Respuesta magazine do, consider donating today. We want to continue maintaining our website, providing relevant and original content, and supporting critical dialogue among our people. Help us sustain our efforts as the only independent publication of the Boricua Diaspora, a space for the barrionerds, malcriados, free thinkers, and dreamers of our communities.
